Do you have theme weeks in OC? We're looking for rock and roll bands or biker-themed events/activities. Thanks!

There are not theme weeks during the summer other than a few weeks focused on various fishing tournaments, but there are lots of major 1 to 5 day events centered around different thems (e.g., Bikes, Muscle cars, Jeeps, Corvettes, Art and Entertainment, Wine) during the shoulder seasons in the Spring and Fall. The best way to find out about these events is to look at OCOcean.com's Events page. These events will all be listed there with links to their individual event pages.

Hello there, Insiders! I'm on the hunt for any hotels/places to stay where we can avoid all the hustle and bustle of the recent graduates. We're open to all parts of the Town, too, as we heard North OC is sometimes quieter. Thanks!

Hi. The graduates will only be around for another week or two at most.  Mid town between 40th and 80th Streets is very quiet,  and anywhere from 125th to 146th St will be even quieter.   Check out the Holiday Inn Oceanfront on 67th St. Very nice hotel, quiet area, indoor and outdoor pools, on site Italian restaurant and bakery, and easy access to anywhere in OC.

The Comfort Inn Gold Coast is also quiet, but is located on the bay side of town.  It is quiet, set back from Coastal Highway and behind a mall. No ocean views, but beautiful bay views and sunsets if you get a bayside room.  There are no balconies on the rooms though, but it has a Denny's attached to it and they give you a discount if you show  your room key.

If you want to stay at the extreme north of OC, then check out the Econo Lodge on 145th St.  It is one block back from the ocean, but was rated as one of the top Econo Lodges in the country.  You would be located right at the state line between Maryland and Delaware and it's an easy drive to Bethany Beach, or Fenwick Island.  And there are some very good restaurants in that part of town as well.  It's really very quiet.

I hope that helps you make a decision.  Also, check http://www.ococean.com/accommodations for reservations and rates.  Thank  you for your question.

Absolutely!  Strollers and wagons are fine on the boardwalk as long as it's children inside and not dogs.  Have FUN!!

Yes, you can rent umbrellas and other beach equipment very easily.

There will be a rental box where you can rent an umbrella and other beach equipment within a few blocks of where you enter the beach. You will see these rental boxes along the west edge of the beach - they are usually white or blue and are every 3 blocks or so and easy to spot!

Umbrellas rent for about $17/day or $75/week and chairs are about $8/day or $40/week (prices vary a little bit among operators, but not too much).

These place rent  high quality heavy chairs and umbrellas, and the rental attendants will do put-up and take-down umbrellas for you. If you are there more than a day or two, often you can buy inexpensive equipment cheaper than renting, but the rental equipment tends to be nicer.

How much does it cost to rent a beach umbrella?

Hi.  Rental cost depends on whether you want to rent one for the day, week, or season.  It also depends on the vendor.  Daily rentals can range from $15 to $20 a day, to $70 a week or more.  It varies.

I am on oxygen and am planning a visit to Ocean City. Is there anywhere I could fill my oxygen tank so that I won't have to drag along refill bottles? Thanks!

I was unable to find a place in OC that would refill your tanks. You may be able to rent an oxygen concentrator for a week and only use your portable tanks when you're out and about.  My father had a concentrator in his home that refilled larger tanks,  but had a portable rolling concentrator when he was away. The only drawback to that is that the batteries in portable ones don't last more than a few hours, so you would have to return to your unit and recharge it.  His was a Respironics unit that was about the size of a briefcase and wheeled around easily. It comes in a case, and can be plugged into your car's power port while traveling, and into a regular outlet at night.

Unfortunately, oxygen is a durable medical supply and I can't advise you as to what your insurance will cover. The nearest place that may be able to help you is probably Apple Drug in Berlin or Salisbury.  Here a link to their contact info https://www.appledrugs.com/about-us/

I wish you good luck.

What age do you qualify for seniors discount and where (if anywhere) in Ocean City can one take advantage of such? Thanks!

Some hotels will offer a senior or AARP discount on rooms, and Denny's at the Gold Coast Mall gives a good discount on meals. Ember's usually has a senior night special on Thursdays for over 65 patrons.  Some events that require tickets may give discounts on pre sold tickets.  You can get a "non resident" pass for people over 60 for the public Beach Bus.  It entitles the rider to half price rides on the bus or special event shuttles, but not on the boardwalk tram. It is free by calling here: 410-723-1606 or the City Hall receptionist at 410-289-8221.

There are no special lots but every public lot has a section of handicapped parking.  There is also handicapped parking on most streets that border the beach.

The best no cost option is to fish from the 2nd to 4th St. bulkhead on the bay side. It is one of two fish for free (no license required) locations in OC. The other is at Northside Park on 125th St
