We're headed down to the beach Thanksgiving Week, and I'm wondering if there are many shops/restaurants open during that time? Thanks!

I have often been to OC around Thanksgiving, and plenty of stuff is open. More is open late in Thanksgiving week, less earlier in the week. The restaurants in the major hotels are open all year, as are many other favorites. Here are a few palces I reguarly go to in the off season that will be likely open then:

Longboard Cafe at 67th Street has been about 5 years and is one of my favorite casual places. They have great food, a nice selection of craft and mainstream beers, and their bartenders make excellent cocktails too! Sometimes they close in the deep off season, but they are often open on weekends.

Harpoon Hanna's (Route 54 - 800.227.0525) - Excellent seafood, open everyday year round.

BJs on the Water (75th Street - 410.524.7575) - Good food, views of the bay, diverse menu from sandwiches to seafood and steak, kitchen open until after midnight everyday all year.

Seacrets (49th Street on the bay - 410.524.4900) - OC's number one party spot. Closed a few days mid-week, but open on weekends.

Harborside (West OC on the south side of the commercial harbor, 410.213.1846) - Great casual place with excellent food overlooking the commercial harbor. I go here almost every time I visit OC. Open all week all year.

Fager's Island (60th on the bay - 410.524.5500) - Both fine and more casual dining. Great food, drinks, and views of the bay. Excellent sunsets timed to the 1812 overture, open everyday year round.

Captain's Table (15th Street in the Courtyard Marriott - 410.289.7191) - Excellent food, open 7 days a week year round. I often eat here in the off season.

Ocean City Fish Company (formerly Captain's Galley II, West OC on south side of the commercial harbor 410.213.2525) - A great seafood place for the whole family. Traditional dining downstairs and crabs and casual dining upstairs. They have excellent crab cakes and other seafood items, but also have great non-seafood dishes too. I eat here often with my family. Since they have new owners, double check to be sure they are open this year.

The Shark on the Harbor (West OC on the north side of the commercial harbor 410.213.0924) - Very good food with a bit of an eclectic menu that changes almost daily based on the fresh foods they can get. They take reservations. Call to check when they are open as they may be open weekends only.

Lombardi's (94th Street 410.524.1961) Great pizza, subs, and Italian food in a casual atmosphere. Open everyday year round.

Sunset Grill (West OC on North side of commercial harbor 410.213.8110) - Popular place with a nice atmosphere - open 7 days a week all year.

Bonfire (70th Street, 410.524.7171) - Seafood buffet, open weekends only (sometimes Thursday-Sunday) in off season, sometimes totally closed on in the slow months of early December through February.

Hi Lani, Yes the shops and restaurants will be open. I'd even check out the Winterfest of Lights you'd really love it.

Karl did a great job covering the restaurants.  There are also several shops open, especially on the weekend.  The surf shops, larger boutique clothing stores, specialty bathing suit shops, Peebles, Marshalls, and the outlets are open.
