My friend and I are college students looking for affordable housing for this coming 2017 summer season. I was hoping you had some recommendations. Thank you!

If you are looking for seasonal housing your best bet is to work with an employer and see if they have housing for their workers. These are usually the most affordable options. If that approach won't work for you, here are some other options:

(1) Checkout this seasonal housing information from the OC Chamber of Commerce (it is from 2016, but still is useful)

(2) Watch the classified sections of  Maryland Coast Dispatch and Ocean City Today. Both of these newspapers have jobs and seasonal housing listings.

(3) Watch the Eastern Shore Craigslist housing section - lots of people connect to OC seasonal housing through this site.

(4) Even if you are not an international student, checkout E-Point Student Center - They help lots of international students find jobs and housing in OC. You can reach them at 410.289.9844.

No matter where you go, be sure you confirm you are dealing with a reputable source. A couple of years ago, several lifeguards got scammed by listings for places that demanded up-front rent payment for places that did not actually exist!

Good luck in your search!

Hello! For just two people you will spend a lot of money if you  live right downtown Ocean City. If you live a little west OC or Ocean Pines area you might be able to find better prices and a nicer place. You have to drive though which can be the annoying trade off. If I were you, I'd take a trip down in the next few weeks and just drive around and see a local realtor and get a feel for where you'd like to live and work. Check out the job fair on April 15th at the Convention center on 40th street for sure if you do have a job lined up!

Hi Sarah!

This is a very popular question this time of year and although it is not always the easiest task to find affordable housing, you are starting early enough in your search that I am sure you will find something suitable. It would definitely be a big help if you are able to come to town for a weekend and just take a look around and make note of possible options. Also, be sure to pick up the local newspapers (Ocean City Today and The Dispatch) and check out the classified sections. There are always people willing to rent. Good luck!
