Myself, son and wife, daughter and 3 children, 4,3,and 2 are looking to rent a 3 bedroom condo for the week of 9/11 to 9/18/10. Will there be enough to do to keep the attention of the children? They are not overly fond of the ocean...but Grandma is!

Faye,

Here is a similar question and Insider responses: http://ococean.com/explore-oc/meet-the-insiders/get-answers/general/1643/september-at-the-beach.

But there is definitely plenty to do - OC is really becoming a year round resort with many places (restraunts, attractions, shopping, etc.) remaining open all year with limited operational hours.

As for the beach, it never closes so yes you can definitely enjoy the beach and ocean (weather permitting).  Can't guarantee the ocean temp - but the beach will be less crowded.  Just remember there will be no lifeguards so plan accordingly and keep a cell phone readily available just in case.

Have a wonderful vacation!

Faye,
You should see if the condo has an indoor pool.  That may keep everyone happy.  Enjoy your time in OC.

Hi Faye,
While the outdoor rides will be closed, the indoor rides at Trimpers at the southern (inlet) end of the boardwalk will be open and it caters to young children. There is also indoor mini golf open, or you could go to the Carousel and let the kids rent skates and try ice skating. I know that sounds a little crazy, but they have an indoor rink and have special bars that are made for little one's to hold onto when they're on the ice so they don't fall. I've seen 2 year olds there and they do surprisingly well. You could also take them to Assateaque to see the ponies.
Buy them each a hermit crab. That will keep them entertained for hours. And don't forget the sand toys.  Another piece of advice would be to purchase an inflatable pool if the weather is warm enough to be on the beach.  If they don't like the ocean, that will satisfy them and give them a chance to get wet without getting knocked over by the waves. Then once they're done, use the sand bucket and collect shells! You never know what you'll find.
The 16th begins Bike Week in OC so they might enjoy seeing the "brmm brmm's " up close.
Something I just recently found out is that the Marina Deck Restaurant on Dorchester St and the bay has an on site babysitting service from 5-9 each evening so that parents can feed the kids first, and the kids can be supervised while the grown ups can enjoy a nice quiet adult dinner in the restaurant.
Have a great time in OC.

Ocean City is becoming a year round resort and have many activites and festivals planned throughout the year.  You may want to go to www.ococean.com and click on the events calendar to see if there is anything that may grab their interest.  There is also a zoo in Salisbury that would be a great day trip if the weather is nice.  Have a great trip!

Faye,

There is plenty to do in Ocean City.  You'll find that businesses, stores and restaurants are all still open.  The outdoor rides may be winding down, they are getting close to being open weekends only until after Sunfest, but other than that, there'll no lack of things to do while you're there!!!  Have fun!!!
