I have a group of about 20 coming to Ocean City in mid-September for a company outing. Can you recommend any nearby kayaking tours, both ocean-side and on the bay? We are staying at the Princess Royale and wanted it to be close to our hotel. Thank you.

Most of the kayaking outfitters are on the other side of the coastal bays.

I definitely would recommend Ayers Creek Adevntures. They have lots of available kayak and canoe tours. They are a couple of miles south of Route 50 on Route 611, about a 15 minute drive from the Princess Royal Hotel. They are very easy to work with and flexible with their tour packages. They will plan something with you to meet your group's specific needs and may be able to come to meet you at the Princess Royal if there is a suitable launch spot nearby.

You can get lots of information at their website, http://www.ayerscreekadventures.com/index.html,or contact contact Suzy Taylor at 888.602.6288 or suzy@ayerscreekadventures.com"> suzy@ayerscreekadventures.com.

Be sure to let them know an Insider pointed you their way, as we are always trying to ensure local businesses know about us.

September is my favorite time of year in OC. I stayed in the Princess Royal a few weeks ago and it is a great property. Have a great trip! suzy@ayerscreekadventures.com">

Bingo on Thursday nights? I understand the American Legion on 24th in OC does not have Bingo anymore. Is that true? Is there any other Bingo relatively close to 130th in OC?

An activity that my whole family really enjoys is a night at the horse races. Ocean Downs is located in West OC only a few miles over the Rt. 50 bridge.  Admission is free. There is an air conditioned clubhouse that offers dinner at tables with a view of the track. There is also grandstand seating. The legal age to wager on horses in MD is 18, so you children can make bets. Many races offer a 10 cent trifecta which won't make you rich but is very exciting! The minimum wager for a race is $2. The tellers at the wagering windows are very patient and know that many patrons are first-timers.  Free programs list the horses running in each race and other information about the jockeys, owners and the horses past performance. Wagering instructions are also included.  Last year my husband won $75 on the last race-enough to pay for our dinner and drinks!  Check out the Ocean Downs website: http://www.oceandowns.com/racing.php
Have fun and good luck!

You might be thinking about the popular Family Beach Olympics on Tuesday evenings, June 28th-August 9th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the 27th St. beach. Family Beach Olympics will offer such activities as sand castle contests, tug of war, relay games and more. Children must be accompanied by parents or guardians. My family has participated in the past and it is lots of fun.  Prizes include tickets to attractions, pizza, t-shirts, hats, and other OC stuff.

Where is the best place to rent surreys, considering price and rental times etc.? Can anyone tell me a little more about this? It sounds fun and right up our alley.

There are several places to rent bicycles and surreys in Ocean City.  Bikes can only be taken on the Boardwalk until 10 am from April through September.  Prices are about the same across all of them.  They are alot of fun!  We have 5 people in ours and take a tour of the Boardwalk.  It is hard work though peddaling, so be prepared.  They surreys are heavy and my wife and I end up doing all the pedaling!  :)

The sunnydayguide.com has coupon for many bike shops.  I like Jo's, but they are all very similar.

Yes, some of the rides will be open on the weekends.  Unfortunately you are coming after Springfest and before Cruise In, so there won't be any big events to take part in. But there is always something to do or see in or around OC. Check out the Life Saving Museum at the inlet end of the Boardwalk.  Take the walking tour of the historic downtown area. You can find brochures for this at your hotel or at the Convention Center or City Hall.  Visit Assateague Island and watch the wild ponies and shorebirds.
Visit Ayers Creek Adventures and take a leisurely kayak or canoe ride down the river on a guided tour.  Visit the Wheels of Yesterday museum in west Ocean City and see some beautiful examples of cars from long ago. How about laser tag at Planet Maze?  Or go karts at Baja Amusement Center in west OC. There is always something to see or do in Ocean City.

There are lots of things to do in OC. Much depends upon what you like to do the most. Here are a few options:

Fresco's on 82nd Street often has piano bar entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30 to 9:00. Call the at 410.524.8202 to check to see if is going on while you are in OC.

The Angler offers a free cruise. This cruise goes around the bay and out into the Atlantic (if the inlet is not too rough). See http://theangleroc.publishpath.com/angler-restaurant

If you like the great outdoors, Ayers Creek Adventures offers evening canoe and kayak tours. Some include wine tastings. They are very flexible to plan things to meet the needs of you large or small group. You can get more information at http://www.ayerscreekadventures.com/

The OC Jamboree in west OC offers a variety of live shows. See http://www.ocjam.com/ for their schedule and more information.

Ocean Downs on Route 589 in West OC is now Ocean Casion. If you like gambling they have slot machines and simulcast horse racing. They will have live racing from June through August.

The Globe Theater in nearby Berlin offers a wide variety of live entertainment. You can see their schedule at http://www.globetheater.com/calendar.cfm

In past years, the Beach Plaza has had a Piano Bar. They completely  remodelled the property this winter, and they have not made a decision yet about if they will keep the piano entertainment. When you are in OC call them at 410.289.9121 or 800.492.5834 to see if they are having piano music.

You can get a pretty extensive list of entertainment at http://www.oceancitytoday.net/news/2011-04-15/Entertainment. This list is updated weekly (just change the date in the URL to the most recent Friday).

Have a great time. I am sure the other Insiders will have more great ideas for you!

The Ocean City Boardwalk is open year round.  Like the beach it is never closed.  On the weekends right now you will find most stores and restaurants open.  IN just a few weeks everything will be open.  Trimpers is open on the weekends right now and Jolly Rogers pier rides are scheduled to be open this weekend.

There are tons of activities in OC for teens.

First, the H20 nightclubs.  There are 2 and you can get all the specific information on pricing, special events, times, location, etc. by visiting this website:  http://www.h2oniteclub.com/.

Other activities, there is mini-golf.  Several courses, including two indoor courses.  The largest selection of courses is through Old Pro Golf, visit http://www.oldprogolf.com/ for all kinds of information, including a money saving coupon.  A few others are Ember's Mini Golf at 24th Street, they also have a money saving coupon on their website (http://www.embers.com/about.php).

Jolly Rogers, what a great attraction for kids of all ages.  We recently toured this facility and saw the construction of their new addition this year - a zip line!  You can get great information (hours, prices, specials, etc.), as well as money saving coupons and even great discounts if you purchase tickets or their Passport to Fun online.  Their tickets and Passport to Fun is valid at the 30th Street and Boardwalk Pier location.

Arcades, what kid doesn't love arcades.  There are several in OC including Fun City at Caroline Street on the Boardwalk, Sportland on Worcester Street and the Boardwalk, Marty's (also Worcester and Boardwalk).

Laser Tag, the Insider's were given first hand experience compliments of Laser Storm.  This is a great facility and we all had an absolutely fun time playing laser tag.  The kids of all ages will enjoy this experience.

Go Karts:  Jolly Rogers has several great go kart tracks and you can get information on them at the site above.  In addition there is Baja Amusements (http://www.bajaoc.com) and Grand Prix (http://www.grandprixoc.com) in West OC.

A final recommendation, although there are tons of other activities, is ice skating at the Carousel.  So much fun!

I would definitely recommend utilizing the trip planner on the www.ococean.com website as well as the things to do section for amusements:  http://ococean.com/things-to-do/amusements.

Have a great vacation!

I would hit the Boardwalk during the day and then definately go to Seacrets and Fagers Island for some night life.  The Hobbit ($$$$), Galaxy 66 ($$$), or BJ's On The Water ($$) are great restaurant ideas.  And the OC Outlets are open for some great shopping.
