What are some good places for family fun such as mini golf and the like?

OC Has all kinds of fun things to do! I'd recommend picking up a Visitor's Guide or Sunny Day magazine (both are free) to see all that their is to do. You cna find these all over town or get a full sampling of all OC has to offer at the Visitors Center in the Convention Center at 40th Street.

A few ideas:
- Enjoy the beach and the surf
- Walk the 2.5 mile boardwalk, or take the boardwalk tram
- Play Mini Golf (courses all over town)
- Play in the arcades on the boardwalk
- Visit Northside Park for its great trails, playgrounds, and fishing
- Take a boat tour or rent a boat or jet ski
- Go Parasailing
- Drive down to Assateague (20 minutes) to see the Wild Ponies
- Go to Jolly Rogers or Trimper's amusement parks
- Enjoy some great seafood at one of OC's great restaurants
- Visit the OC Lifesaving Museum at the south end of the boardwalk
- Take in one of OC's free events. See http://ococean.com/things-to-do/free-family-fun

When do the rides close for the season? When is the season over?

Nicolette,

Ocean City is a year round resort.  However, with that said the outdoor rides will close the week after Labor Day.  Most everything else will remain open year round, with a few exceptions.  Those locations that are 100% outdoor (ie FishTales, mini-golf, etc.) will close mid-Fall for the year simply because they are not able to accommodate winter weather and temperatures.

Otherwise, many places are open year round with a few remaining open on weekends only.

So, if you are looking for a weekend getaway in November, check out all the specials offered in OC.  You can participate in any of the special events OC has to offer their residents and visitors.  Visit www.ococean.com/events for a listing of all 2010 special events.

Thank you,
Anna G.

first time in OC. Have friends visiting from New Zealand 9/26-9/28. We will go to sunfest, but any other suggestions as to where to stay and what to do that time of year. Will the boardwalk still be open, and, coming from Wildwood, which way is best, ferry or not. Thanks

The boardwalk will still be open and the weather should be great for spending time on the beach and in the surf.

From Wildwood I would definitely take the ferry, but be sure you have reservations.

Places to stay and things to do really depend what you are looking for. I would recommend exploring the ococean.com website and seeing what looks interesting to you. If you see something you wonder about, just ask us again!

In general terms, a few of many possible great places to stay (in no particular order) include: The Spinnaker, The Castle in the Sand, The Holiday Inn, The Flamingo, The Hilton Suites, The Ocean Princess.

When do all the vendors close their doors for the season? Thinking about going to OC for my 30th birthday, which is 9/28. We will travel to OC on 9/30. I know there's a wine festival that weekend, but will the other restaurants/clubs still be open?

What kind of indoor activites are available on a rainy day for preschool age children? Any indoor pools?

Hunt Valley and Ocean City

Lisa,
Here are some indoor options that we have done with our now 5 and 8 year-olds:
Arcades on the Boardwalk
Shell City has a sea shell museum on the top floor that is free
Indoor Old Pro mini golf
Ripleys Believe It or Not (caution, may be scary)
Chuck E Cheese in the Salisbury Mall

Weather in the Worchester County area is often isolated, so it may be raining in OC, but Salisbury.  Salisbury has a wonderful free zoo!  Our kids love it.  It is called the Salisbury Zoological Park.  You can call them and see if it is raining there.

We are going to Ocean City the week of 8/14 2010 and were wondering what time should we arrive to be at the Jason Earles Meet and Greet?

Cristine,

The Ocean City Events Calendar lists this event as 8/15/2010, beginning at 3PM and ending at 7PM on the beach at North Division Street..... so, to get a good spot, I'd get there as early as I could... it may be a mob scene!!!  lol

I'm an OCMD summertime fan, but want to know about things to do in the off-season. I'm attending a wedding in Annapolis on Dec 4th and may extend my stay while I'm in the Maryland area.

Renee,

Ocean City is a wonderful place to visit, especially "off season".... I head there quite a bit during that "off peak" time of year.  There is plenty to do.  You will find in December that the restaurants and stores have a mostly weekend schedule only, or are closed for the season... but you will find that businesses that close for the season are becoming less and less.  The main "town" attraction during the time you are speaking of is the Winterfest of Lights.... 11/18/2010 - 1/2/2011..... It is just a great time to be in Ocean City... I hope you decide to extend your stay in Maryland, and visit Ocean City.
