Hi Sherice,

So much will be open this weekend as it it Springfest weekend, with lots of activities in the inlet parking lot at the south end of Ocean City.  Your kids may like the indoor Trimper Rides park at the southern end of the boardwalk.

Have fun!!!

I am taking my niece and her friends to OC for her birthday on May 2. She is 18 and never been there. What is open and what is there to do this early in the season? Is there a boat ride to see dolphins?

It is a great experience to see the dolphins.  I do not see them as frequently in the spring as I do in the summer and fall but I believe they are still out there.  Many of the big power boats that take you out to the ocean are not open yet in the spring.

Other than that, your niece and friends will have a great time.  Take them over to Fish Tales or Fagers Island to have dinner bayside.  Fagers is fun to watch the sunset and so is Fishtales but with Fishtales, they take their shoes off and dine in the sand.  The boardwalk and many of the shops will be open.  The weather is supposed to be great this weekend, so it will seem like a summer weekend.  You all will have a great time.

Hi Andrea,

I took my son out of school this past winter and we took him down to Assateague Island.  They have a great education/nature center that my son absolutely loved.  It is a wonderful educational opportunity.  There is another museum at the inlet called the Ocean City Life Saving museum.  It shows the history of OC, has an aquarium with local fish, crabs, and sea life, and other types of history and artifacts.  Finally, go up to 123rd St and check out the Northside park,  It has great walking trails and has a pier extending out to the bay.  She may be able to find sea life on the small beach that is right before the pier.

It is supposed to be great weather so some of the school should include the art of sand castle building, and if you are staying at a hotel with an indoor pool, don't forget about PE (swimming).

Have fun!!!

Hi, my daughter and I are coming over Labor Day weekend and would like to get a beach portrait/photograph done while we are there. Who do you recommend? Thanks

Sheila,

Here are a couple local photographers specializing in beach portraits:

Tiffany Caldwell (http://www.tiffpics.com/)
Shoreline Studios (http://www.landytaylor.com/)
The Photographer's Studio (http://www.beach-net.com/Servesmithad.html)

All three are good and prices are comparable.  Our favorite is Shoreline Studios.

Have a great time this Labor Day in OC.

I am headed down to OC next Mon-Fri with my (newly) 5 y/o son. What age-themed activites will be open this time of year? Are there any public/private boat tours available at a decent price?

Hello Kristin, Age themed activities I know that old pro golf is open. Those are always fun to do and there are 4 locations. Also i don't believe any boat tours are being done yet but you should think about taking him to assategue island. There are animals over there and he'd like that. Some of the arcades are open to have fun in! If he's not too scared ripley's believe it or not is open as well.

Is there any horseback riding?

That is a good question, and I didn't have the answer.  After a little research I found Holly Ridge Farms, located about 20 minutes from OC has trail rides.  http://www.hollyridgefarm.com/

I read that you must be at least 12 years old and physically and mentally able to handle a 1200 lb horse.....

You can see horses in the wild at Assateague.  Of course, you can't ride them, but they are awesome to watch.  Hope you enjoy OC.

I am unsure of the price for 2010, but I do know there is a coupon available at:
http://www.sunnydayguide.com/ocean_city/oc_attractions_activities_details.php?ad_id=49 .  Many friends of ours have taken the trip and always had a good time.  I believe the price is somewhere around $15 for children and $25 for adults.  You can also ask if they have a 2 for 1 special available.  They ran that promotion last summer.

Everything is open!  That's Cruise In Weekend and OC will be jumping with thousands of hot rods and car crazy people. Some people are brave enough to try the ocean, but it's still really cold. But otherwise, there isn't anything that isn't open then.
Come on down!
