I am thinking of coming there the week of Easter, is there anything to do then or is everything pretty much not open?

There is always something to do in Ocean City. It's becomming more of a year round vacation spot instead of just a summer town. According to Jolly Rogers, their pier rides will be open Easter weekend, then close again till May.  The majority of the restaurants and bars will be up and running (or getting things ready to open), there's shopping all over town and at the Ocean City Outlets in West Ocean City, you can check out the Life Saving Station Museum on the boardwalk, and of course check out the boardwalk, you can rent bicycles, play laser tag at Planet Maze, go ice skating at the Carousel Hotel, play mini golf indoors or out (there are two indoor mini golf courses on 68th and 136th St), head to Assateague to see the wild ponies and check out the nature center there, go to the OC Jamboree to see a show, and just explore the bay and commercial fishing areas, or fly a kite and collect sea shells!  And of course there is bowling, or movies, and eating your way from one end of town to the other.  You won't be bored.

We are planning a vacation may 18 thru 22 and have two children is there anything open during these dates on the boardwalk?

That's Cruisin OC weekend and the boardwalk will be packed.  There MAY be some rides open. Trimpers indoor rides for the younger set will definitely be open as will the arcade and the haunted house, plenty of shops and restaurants. You'll find that the whole town is open that weekend and there will car shows at the inlet, including a parade of cars down the boardwalk each morning, a car show at the Convention Center and at Hooters, as well as other places in OC.  It's a great event. There is a per day charge to get into the car shows or you can purchase a weekend pass for all four days, but the passes are good for all locations.
Have a great time!

My family will be visiting OC in mid-March. Is there a water tour company that can take 6 guests on a 3-hour (half-day), pontoon-boat type "cruise" of the bay area (near OC)?

I know that Bahia Marina does pontoon tours, but I don't know if they would be open in March.  That's early for the boats and such around OC.  My best advice would be to give them a call at

I understand there is a 50's dance and music party at Secrets 3/2/12=3/4/12. Is this a private party or can anyone come? How much are the tickets and where can we get them? thank you.

I'm sorry, but looking at Seacret's webpage, there is no information about a 50's party. You can check their events calendar at http://seacrets.com/ocean-city-md-events-all-calendar

Where do I purchase ride tickets in advance at a discounted rate?

Trimper's does not offer advanced purchase discounts, but there is usually a coupon for a few dollars off in the Sunny Day Magazine. Jolly Rogers has discounts at their website: http://www.d3stores.com/jollyroger/Default.asp?c=272547

What entertainment is available this weekend of 2-24/2-26 for 53 yr. old couple including fine seafood dining?

Your best bet is when you get into OC, get a SunnyDay Guide book and other ad magazines that are in hotel and condos' lobbies.Check them, they will have deal on entertainment and food hot spots.

Is there somewhere to rent the horses to ride on the beach...or do you have to bring your own horse?

You have to bring your own horse to ride on the beach. There are no stables available to rent them at this time.

My two best options are Seacrets or Fager's Island.  They both have good food and great entertainment.  If you are willing to drive for dinner, try the Shark, Sunset Grille, or Jive; then drive to Seacrets for dancing.

Is March the only time there going to do horseback riding?

Horseback riding is available from November through March.  There are no stables to rent horses though and you must have a permit to ride.

The cost is $20 for the day or $50 for a season pass.

The boardwalk in February is a hit or miss with some shops/restaurants depending on the weather at times. But I assure you there is still plenty to see and do in the winter like
Planet Maze laser tag on 33rd st
Life Saving Museum on the boardwalk
arcades
put put golf
bike riding on the boards
and much much more
