OC Air Show - Ocean City, Maryland

OC Air Show soars into Ocean City, Maryland June 10–11

It’s full throttle ahead in Ocean City, MD for the town’s first-ever air show. The OC Air Show will help kick off the town’s 2008 summer season on June 10-11, adding a new signature attraction to Ocean City’s roster of annual events.

Military aircraft demonstrations, low altitude flyovers and civilian aerobatic performances will take place over the Ocean City beachfront from noon to 3 p.m. each day. The air show will be visible along the majority of the Boardwalk creating an inspiring experience for visitors while they enjoy the hospitality of Ocean City’s beach and attractions.

Interactive displays and exhibits will be open to the public on the streets surrounding Show Center, that will be located at 16th Street on the Boardwalk where premium viewing opportunities and hospitality chalets will be available to businesses and public attendees.

The Ocean City Municipal Airport will host an open house in conjunction with the OC Air Show on Monday, June 9, where performing aircraft can be viewed up close along with other aircraft.

The Town of Ocean City will observe Flag Day with a special ceremony on Saturday June 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Flag Plaza in beautifully Northside Park 127th Street & the Bay on the Flag Plaza.

The Mayor of Ocean City will lead a brief program recognizing our veterans, the flag they served and, “The Pledge of Allegiance.” The Ocean City Police Department Color Guard will present the colors, as the national anthem is sung.

Discover an Ocean of Fun at Ocean City’s newest events.  Dance an Irish jig at Irish Night on Monday, July 28th, at Sunset park on South Philadelphia Avenue.  The Town of Ocean City wishes to share with the public the beauty of the different cultures to promote a better understanding and respect for all those living in the multicultural setting that surrounds us.  This year enjoy an old fashioned Irish and a seductive Latin block party with live entertainment and a beer and wine garden.  Celebrate everyone’s heritage and dance the night away.

Ocean City’s Eight Annual Fine Art Show will feature 100 artists in competition and selling their fine art.

Visit Art’s Alive on June 21 – 22, 2008 to discover that art is alive for the entire family in Ocean City. The show takes place at the beautiful Northside Park complex, located at 127th Street and the Bay. Take a leisurely stroll around the deep water lagoon, chat with artists, relax over lunch and listen to relaxing music in a tranquil park setting.

Art’s Alive includes a juried fine art show with media categories including; Ceramics, Drawing, Fiber, Furniture, Glass, Printmaking, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Fine Wood. The Town offers a total of $5,000 in cash awards for artistic merit. The artist whose work is selected Best-In-Show will received $2,000 along with a blue ribbon. Six other artist’s work will be recognized with the Judge’s Choice Award of $500 each and a red ribbon. Three highly qualified visual arts professionals will be invited to judge the show and select award winners. In addition, the Mayor of Ocean City will select The Mayor’s Choice and the public will select The People’s Choice. These two awards are in the form of ribbons.

Don’t forget to take a little bit of Art’s Alive and Ocean City home with you. Stop by the Art’s Alive Boutique located in the information booth. Merchandise includes: T-shirts, golf shirts, sweatshirts, denim shirts, baseball hats, sun visors, pins and more.

Thanks to a grant from the Worcester County Arts Council, free children’s workshops are offered during Art’s Alive on Saturday and Sunday. A special thanks goes to the Art League of Ocean City for their wonderful partnership in developing Art’s Alive.

2007 4th of July JamboreeJamboree in the Park includes a full slate of action-packed activities fun for the whole family.  Enjoy live entertainment on the main stage starting at 5:00 p.m. Also, you won’t want to miss any of this year’s exciting line-up of entertainment!  Family and children’s entertainment takes place on the fun field stage, and roaming children’s entertainment is throughout the park.  Stroll along the south side of the fun field to enjoy arts & crafts vendors.  Whether it’s dinner or just a snack, Jamboree food just can’t be beat.  Find it on the fun field and on the patio.  Select from traditional festival fare such as hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza, fries, pretzels, funnel cakes, cotton candy, snow cones and PEPSI products, as well as smoothies, curly fries and crab cake sandwiches.  Carnival games, inflatable activities and a rock-climbing wall are just some of the fantastic family activities offered at Jamboree in the Park.  Anywhere in the park is a good place to watch the magnificent fireworks display.  Stake your claim to your viewing site on any of our fields.  The fireworks will be shot at 9:30 p.m.

Bring your family, a picnic basket and beach chairs to Northside Park at 127th Street and the Bay for your favorite dessert and live family entertainment. The lineup of entertainers this season will make you stand and cheer, however, the spotlight will be on you, creating your own ice cream sundae with delicious toppings. This event is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Children’s entertainment is also presented each week. So create your own ice cream sundae for a small fee while listening to live music and watching the sun set over the beautiful bay. “Run! Away From Home!” to Ocean City, Maryland where you can “take your mark, get set and go” running through this beautiful beachfront town on Saturday, October 25th. The 5-kilometer fun run is for those who are looking for a good time and the 10-mile race is for the true competitor. Runners from around the country enjoy this ten-mile race with its three-miles of Boardwalk. Come dressed for Halloween and compete for special awards for the best costumed runners. This event is fun for the whole family. Runners compete for plaques and the honor of being known as the “fastest legs in Town.”

Visit the Winterfest Village, located at beautiful Northside Park, 127th and the Bay, where dazzling lights on winter nights will to put you in the mood for the holiday season. While at the Wintefest Village,located inside a festive, heated tent, enjoy hot chocolate, browse the Yukon Cornelius tent, enjoy hot chocolate, browse the Yukon Cornelius Gift Shop for that special gift, and have your photo taken with Santa! Board the Wintefest Express and sing Christmas carols as you glide past spectacular lighted displays including the Twelve Days of Christmas and your favorite fairy tales. The admission to ride the train is $4.00 for those 12 years and older and FREE for those 11years and younger. While in Ocean City take a drive through the Tunnel of Lights at the Inlet Lot lights boasting a nautical theme. Enjoy the Avenue of Trees on 15th – 32nd Streets.
