Randy Travis
|
Randy Bruce Traywick was the second of six children whose father always wanted him to become a country singer. Randy and his brothers, dressed in western outfits, performed locally as the Traywick Brothers and gained popularity throughout the South. As a soloist at sixteen, Randy won a contest hosted by Country City, USA. He was then invited to be a regular at the famed nightspot. In 1981, Randy made the move to Nashville and was turned down by nearly every label. Randy was finally signed to Warner Brothers in 1985. Record executives changed his last name to “Travis” for his first album “Storms of Life.” With two hits singles, “On the Other Hand” and “1982,” Randy proved to be an authentic country talent. The hits continued through the eighties and into the nineties including, “Forever and Ever, Amen” and “Diggin’ Up Bones.” The new millennium saw Randy’s career go in a more spiritual direction with three inspirational albums and the hit “Three Wooden Crosses”
In addition to his music career, Randy became an accomplished television and film actor appearing in such films as “The Rainmaker” and “Frank and Jessie.” With twenty-two number one hits, six number one albums, five Grammys, six CMA’s, nine ACM’s, ten AMA’s, five Dove Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Randy Travis is the rare lucky man who has been able to make all of his dreams come true.

The Association
Formed in 1965, The Association is one of the most successful bands to come out of the sixties. They sold over eighty million records and their greatest hits compilation continues to be one of the best selling albums in history. Number one hits, “ Never My Love” and “ Cherish” have achieved “standard” status and are still receiving airplay today. Other hits like “Windy,” “Goodbye Columbus” and “ Along Comes Mary” helped showcase The Association’s versatility, carefully crafted vocals and intricately woven instrumentation. Being on the road for so many years with over two thousand performances to their credit, the Association decided to part ways in 1972. They reunited once in 1979 for a television special, and then reunited permanently in the 1980s.
Gary Puckett
Gary Puckett formed Gary Puckett and the Union Gap in 1967 and Columbia Records quickly signed them. Their first hit, “Woman, Woman” went to #4 on the Billboard charts and was followed by a string of hits including “Young Girl” and “Lady Willpower.” With Puckett’s trademark rich tenor and the band is memorable arrangements, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap became one of the most familiar sounds on the radio during the sixties. They received six gold records and sold more records in 1968 than any other recording artist. Although the Union Gap disbanded in 1971, Puckett has had success as a solo artist and still records and tours to this day.
