OC’s indoors are as great as our outdoors.
If you’d like some time out of the sun, Ocean City, Maryland, has you covered. You’ll find all kinds of indoor activities, from art exhibits to history to hoops – even a maze and an ice-skating rink. Plus gyms and health clubs, so you can take your daily workout on the road. The list below covers just some of the cool indoor attractions you’ll find in OC ASAP.
Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum (South End of Boardwalk at Inlet)
Up for some heroics? Relive the adventures of the U.S. Life-Saving Service, a predecessor of today’s Coast Guard, at the meticulously restored Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum. Children love the Aquarium Room featuring huge saltwater tanks with an ever-changing display of amazing sea creatures. You’ll also find fascinating exhibits of shipwrecks and old-fashioned beachwear. Plus mermaid displays, sands from around the world, and Davy Jones’ locker. Unique gift shop with interesting selection of nautical gifts and books. Small admission fee. Art League of OC Exhibit and Receptions (Art League Building, 94th Street Bayside)
Local and regional artists show their best work at the Art League of Ocean City. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday, with special receptions on the first Friday of every month (February through December). For details and hours, call the Art League at 410-524-9433.
Reserve a gym for indoor games.
Set up a game with friends, family or co-workers. Two full gymnasiums and four indoor basketball courts are available at Northside Park. These gyms can also be used for volleyball or indoor soccer. Reservation fees are $30-36/hour (residents); $44-50/hour (non-residents). Extra fees may apply if you require a supervisor, or if you need equipment set up or taken down.
