I'm on the hunt for a job for this upcoming summer. I would need it to have hours primarily during evenings and nights. Any recommendations on where to look?

Ocean City has lots of seasonal staff in a wide range of businesses, so you can likely find something you are interested in doing, and now is a good time to start looking. Some sources of connections to both jobs and places to live are:

(1) By far your best  and most trustworthy source is the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce - The job fair is on 30 March and is a great source of information. The Chamber also posts lots of useful employment information. They also have a information on seasonal housing.

(2) Watch the classified sections of  Maryland Coast Dispatch and Ocean City Today. Both of these newspapers have jobs and seasonal hosing listings.

(3) As you search for jobs ask prospective employers if they offer housing - many of them do have rental housing available for their staff at a more reasonable rate.

Good luck in your search; hope you find a great job in OC!

I'm hoping to pop into town for a quick visit. Am I able to be on the beach in March?

Yes.  The beach never closes unless there is a thunderstorm.  There is so much to do in March including mini golf, beach combing for shells, shopping, and dining.

Is there a method of public transportation from Fenwick Island, DE to OCMD? If so, can you provide me with some details - frequency, cost, etc.?

You can probably walk to the Ocean City bus terminal on 144th Street from Fenwick Island.  It is an easy walk.  If you do not want to walk, the Delaware Bus goes from Rehoboth through Fenwick Island to Ocean City about every 30 minutes.

From May 23 until September 2 the tram will be running from 11 a.m until midnight, and from 10 a.m. until midnight holiday weekends, holidays, and special events.  The fare is still $3 per person, per boarding, so please keep that in mind if you jump off, and want to jump back on.  Each time you get on is considered a boarding.

How far up does the Boardwalk go? We're staying at 10002 Coastal Highway and are hoping to check some things out. Any recommendations?

The boardwalk goes from the Inlet at the most southern end of town to 27th Street (north).  It is 2.5 miles long.  The rides and games and most of the activity are all located below 1st Street.  Above 1st St you'll find plenty of shops and restaurants and a few bars to enjoy all the way to the end.  You are staying on 100th Street, so you'll either have to drive or take the public bus to visit the boards.  But there is plenty of parking, and the bus is only $3 for a 24 hour, ride all day pass.

Have fun in OC!

Try Bali Hi RV Park (410.352.5477) in Bishopville or Castaways (410.213.0097) or Frontier Town (800.228.5590), both in Berlin.

I'm planning a school trip to OCMD. Where could I rent a beach accessible wheelchair for a day? Any other suggestions for accessibility around town and making life a little easier? Thanks!

You can get lots of information about access on OC's ADA Advisory Committee's webpage.

OC has several options for free access to beach wheelchairs. Note that these chairs need someone to push you and are not self-propelled.

The beach wheelchairs located on the west edge of the beach are controlled by the beach patrol, but generally put out Memorial Day weekend and removed around Labor Day. They are available 10am to 5pm on a first-come-first-serve basis and they need to stay within a block of their location. They are not allowed in the water. They are located at the Inlet Lot, 7th,  27th, 30th, 40th, 48th, 59th, 70th, 81st, 89th, 94th, 107th, 120th, 130th, 139th, 145th. Find out more about them here.

Beach wheelchairs are available at the Ocean City Police Department at 65th Street, bayside, for one or multi-days of use by advance reservation. Call 410.723.6610 for more information.

Beach wheelchairs are also available from the Ocean City Visitors Center in the Convention Center on 40th Street for one to three days of use by advance reservation. Call 410.289.2800 for more information.

PMI rentals (800.320.7469) rents beach wheelchairs, and they will deliver. These chairs are not self propelled and require someone to push the occupant across the beach. You can call them at 800.320.7469 to find out more.

Be aware that these beach wheelchairs are large and do not fold up. They require a fairly large vehicle to transport (check with the people you talk to to see if it will fit in your vehicle). The chairs on the beach locations are stored at the west side of the dunes or along the boardwalk. The chairs are also not self propelled, the person in the chair will need someone to push him or her across the beach.

There is also a new business, SandHelper, that offers self-driven electric beach wheelchairs. Find out more about them here or by calling 855.743.5737. They cost $75/day to rent and have free delivery and pickup.
