Is there a clean place for a family of four to take a shower during a one day trip?

Sara,

Unfortunately Ocean City does not have public showers at this point.  The suggestion I give to family and friends is to have the kids rinse off at the outdoor showers and then change in the backseat of the car.  I would put a sheet on the seats and let them change, then when they are finished just simply shake out the sheet.  Adults just dry off and then ride home in the bathing suit.

With that said, my family rarely does a one-day trip to OC any more.  There is so much to do and see that if we are going we try and make it a mini-vacation by staying 1-2 nights.  The kids have so much fun and we do something different each time we are there.  If looking for a great place to stay at a budget friendly rate, check out www.ocisfree.com.  Not only will you get the most up to date specials for local hotels, but you may be eligible for FREE certificates for local dining, attractions, and so much more.

Thank you for your question,

Anna G.

My family has a condo on Sunset Island, so I am very familiar with the issue. There are several options.

First, there is often parking right along 67th Street leading to Sunset Island. You can park there for free for long periods of time. If it is full, in the morning there is almost always parking along 66th Street on the ocean side of Coastal Highway (south of the Holiday Inn). I have left cars in both of these locations for several days at a time with no issues. There is lots of other side street parking in this area too. If you park on the side streets, just check the signs as some areas have restrictions for a few hours a week to allow for trash pickup, street cleaning, or similar.

Second, right outside of Sunset Island on 67th Street is a private parking lot. You can park there for $10/day, and they likely have deals if you park there for a week. Check with the lot attendant there for more details.

We were down at Sunset Island last week with 4 cars and we did not have an issue finding side street parking.

Double check with your rental agent to be sure you have 3 parking passes. Most units in Sunset Island have only 2 parking passes, although owners are able to arrange for a 3rd in some cases.

Sunset Island is a great place to stay with great amenities. Here is a picture of their cool interactive fountain.

Hi! We come to OC yearly We were there for two weeks earlier this summer. We rent a condo on ninth street from a friend. My daughter, son in law, and granddaughter are staying on 133 St.at the Breamar. We would like to join them at the beach and were wondering if you can take small chairs on the bus. Not sure if they have side street parking. Do you know if that's a possibility....riding the bus would be less hassle but never took it before. Thanks so much!

Dee,

First, there is side street parking in North Ocean City (in and around 133rd Street).  If you arrive early in the day, you should not have a problem locating parking.

Second, yes you can take chairs on the bus.  The only item I would mention is how crowded the bus may or may not be or get throughout the day.  I've been on the bus early day and there may only be 5-10 people; other times in late afternoon or evening it's standing room only.

Thank you,

Anna G.

We are trying to go on a family vacation :) We would like to visit the amusement park and the beach. Are they near each other? If we are trying to use the navigation to get there, which address should we use?

Hi PS, Yes the amusements and the beach are right next to each other. Trimpers and Jolly Rogers on the pier are two great places to ride the rides. I think you and your family will have an amazing time. The inlet also offers a parking lot that you have to pay for but it is very easy to navigate.

Are the trams still running on the boardwalk the week of Sept 21st?

Joan, the trams stop on Labor Day and start up for SUnfest on the 18th of Septemebr but end on the 21st.  But, the OC bus is still operational all year round at a cost of only $3 for an unlimited all day ride.

What is the schedule for the beach movie for the week of Aug. 4th. Also what street on the beach do they do it?

Movies on the beach are held at 3 different locations on 4 different days. This week they are:

Monday, August 4 - 27th Street - The Smurfs 2

Wednesday, August 6 - 118th Street in front of The Carousel - The Lego Movie

Thursday, August 7 - 91st Street in front of the The Princess Royale - Despicable Me 2

Friday, August 8 - 27th Street - The Nut Job

Movies start at about 8:30pm. Be sure to bring a beach chair or blanket and a light jacket or sweatshirt as it can get chilly on the beach at night!

Have fun at Movies on the beach!

Hi Michele, So very happy to hear you will be visiting Ocean city for the very first time. I have been there many times myself. Well, I would defintely recommend the boardwalk. You will love the rides on the pier, the tram, Ripley's Believe or Not, and the shops are just amazing. I would also recommend going over to Talbot Street and checking out their watersports. www.talbotstreetwatersports.com and you can see for yourself some awesome stuff to do. I would go over to Assateague Island and see the ponies. it's so amazing over there I think you will like it very much. For more information visit www.ococean.com

We will be vacationing in OC from Pougkeepsie NY and staying at the Golden Sands on 109th st. What is the best route to travel after crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge?

I have often taken this Route when I traveled to OCMD from Connecticut. It take just over 2 hours to go from the bridge to OC. Here is how I recommend going:

After crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge, take Route 13 South (also labelled as Route 40 West). The exit is about 4 or 5 miles after crossing the bridge.

Continue on Route 13 for about 5 miles to Delaware Route 1 South. Take Route 1 South (It is a toll road) about 55 miles to Milford, DE where you get on Route 113 South.

Take 113 South about 40 miles to Route 90 East (this is about 3 miles after crossing into Maryland).

Take Route 90 about 8 miles to Coastal Highway in Ocean City. Turn right at the light at the end of Route 90 onto Coastal Highway. Take it about 2.5 miles to the Golden Sands which will be on your right.

Have a great trip to OC!

I will be staying at the Burgundy Ann August 8th. Can you suggest night life locations for the 21+ crowd in the area?

Hi Connie, I have stayed at the Burgundy Inn before and the rooms are spacious and clean. You will love staying there. As for nightlife the closest is Pickles Pub on 8th street which is the same side as the Burgundy Inn. Also, you can check out the Purple Moose up on the boardwalk as well as De Lazy Lizard down a little further on 1st and Bay. For more information visit www.ococean.com and click on Nightlife.
