How would you recommend getting from Ocean City to BWI airport?

Submitted by Gabe F, Minneapolis Minnesota on June 10, 2015

The trip by car from BWI to OC takes about 3 hours. Your best and easiest way is to rent a car and drive. You can take I-97 South to Route 50 East and follow Route 50 East for 135 miles to get to OC. You can rent an Enterprise car and return it in OC.

The best alternative is Bay Runner Shuttle which has several trips a day from BWI to OC. Call them at 410.912.6000 for more info. One way cost is about $110.

How much does it usually cost to rent chairs & umbrellas on the beach per day?

Submitted by Jenn B, Morgantown West Virginia on June 10, 2015

Umbrellas run $14 - $15 a day, chairs are around $8 per day, and the vendors have weekly rates available as well. The best thing about renting is that they will put them up and take them down each day so  you have no worries.

Do people bring chairs to sit on the beach for the air show, or do they sit on the sand or stand?

Submitted by Tara C, CATONSVILLE Maryland on June 10, 2015

Absolutely!  You can bring chairs or blankets, or you can just sit on the sand or stand. Everything goes!  But get there early!

How would you recommend getting to Ocean City from New York?  Would I be able to take Amtrak?

Submitted by Tawana H, Brooklyn New York on June 8, 2015

You cannot take Amtrak to Ocean City. The nearest Amtrak Station to OC is over 100 miles from OC. You can take Greyhound from New York City to OC. (I've done it!). Greyhound's route planner does not always work great, bt there is at least 1 daily route that leaves NYC at around 8am and arrives in OC around 6pm. Its cost is $40 to $80 depending on when and how you book. I'd suggest calling Greyhound at 800.231.2222 to find out the best routing.

Amtrak had a service where you could take a train and then a connecting bus from BWI airport (3 hours from OC). Go to the Amtrak site and search for routes from New York Penn Station (NYP) to Ocean City (OCM) to see these options.

Are pets allowed on the beach and the boardwalk?

Submitted by Patricia W, Upper Marlboro Maryland on June 4, 2015

I always feel so bad for the dogs that get brought to Ocean City in the summer by people who don't know that their friends are not allowed to run on the beach or walk on the boardwalk.  Their owners get to sit on the beach all day while the pups are locked up in a condo or hotel room for hours.

My best advice to you is to find a family member or trusted friend to take care of your baby while you're at the beach. You'll both be more relaxed.

No dogs on the beach or boardwalk from May 1 through September 30.

Do you know if the municipal parking lot on 100th St under video surveillance? We will be staying at the Golden Sands and we're told we couldn't be guaranteed a second parking spot and that we could use that lot for the second vehicle.

Submitted by Courtney R, Penfield New York on June 3, 2015

I'm not sure of video surveillance at 100th st parking lot but I know you can park on the other side of Coastal hwy. It's normal street parking there and free.

As a former employee in OC, we did not have special parking rates and I believe, that still exists.

I'm coming to OC June 12-14 and staying off of Rt50. I'll have a 40 foot car trailer and was wondering - where do you recommend I park the trailer? Thank you so much for your help!

Submitted by Lonnie L, Seven Valleys Pennsylvania on May 29, 2015

We use Van's Marine to park out boat trailer. It is located on Racetrack Rd. off of Rt. 50. It is very reasonable and a quiet and safe spot. Here is the contact info.
