Are pets allowed on the beach and the boardwalk?

Submitted by Patricia W, Upper Marlboro Maryland on June 4, 2015

I always feel so bad for the dogs that get brought to Ocean City in the summer by people who don't know that their friends are not allowed to run on the beach or walk on the boardwalk.  Their owners get to sit on the beach all day while the pups are locked up in a condo or hotel room for hours.

My best advice to you is to find a family member or trusted friend to take care of your baby while you're at the beach. You'll both be more relaxed.

No dogs on the beach or boardwalk from May 1 through September 30.

Do you know if the municipal parking lot on 100th St under video surveillance? We will be staying at the Golden Sands and we're told we couldn't be guaranteed a second parking spot and that we could use that lot for the second vehicle.

Submitted by Courtney R, Penfield New York on June 3, 2015

I'm not sure of video surveillance at 100th st parking lot but I know you can park on the other side of Coastal hwy. It's normal street parking there and free.

Are there reduced rates or permits for the Inlet parking lot for Ocean City residents that work on the boardwalk?

Submitted by Michael K, Ocean city Maryland on June 1, 2015

As a former employee in OC, we did not have special parking rates and I believe, that still exists.

I'm coming to OC June 12-14 and staying off of Rt50. I'll have a 40 foot car trailer and was wondering - where do you recommend I park the trailer? Thank you so much for your help!

Submitted by Lonnie L, Seven Valleys Pennsylvania on May 29, 2015

We use Van's Marine to park out boat trailer. It is located on Racetrack Rd. off of Rt. 50. It is very reasonable and a quiet and safe spot. Here is the contact info.

I'd like to renew my wedding vows on the beach. How would you recommend we go about doing that?

Submitted by Mary kay W, Webster New York on May 27, 2015

Congratulations!

What you need to do depends how elaborate you want to be. If you want something really simple and small you can just get an officiant, go out on the beach and do it. However, if there is more to it, I'd suggest contacting the Mayor's Office. To do a wedding on the beach you need to coordinate with them (there is no fee), so I'd imagine a renewal that has any size would require similar coordination. You can reach them at 410.289.8931. See this site for more info on beach weddings in OC.

If you need on official or other services to do the renewal, you may want to consider working with one of OC's wedding planning companies. They can offer you anything from just an officiant for the event to a full blown package. Here are some places that offer these services: Weddings by the Seashore 800.884.0026 Ocean City Wedding Pastor 410.603.9918 Beach Weddings by Rox 866.472.3012.

Have a great renewal of vows in OC

Can you please tell me if people can park overnight in the Ocean Gateway parking lot?

Submitted by Durbin F, Lancaster Pennsylvania on May 26, 2015

The answer is yes you can.  You must park in the designated spots only, so if they're taken you'll have to look elsewhere, but it is free to park as long as you wish. And if you wish to ride the shuttle from there the cost is $3 per person to ride all day.

If you have additional questions, you can call 1-410-723-1606.  They're very courteous to talk with.

I was thinking of coming down for 10 days on June 19th, but I'm worried the weather won't be hot enough. What has been your experience with vacationing in Ocean City during the month of June?

Submitted by Joshua S, Baltimore Maryland on May 26, 2015

Joshua,

June is a great month in OC!  The weather is in the 80's and the lows are in the 60's.  It is plenty warm enough to go out on the beach.  The water is still in the upper 60's, but warming up.  The water only gets to about 74 - 76 at it peak, so you are close to the warm water highs.  June also tends to be dry, so there is not a lot of rain.

I've checked the website for information regarding when rollerblading is permitted, and there is a black-out between Memorial Day and Labor Day with no hours listed. Is skating not permitted at all during that time? I will be coming to Ocean City from June 27th through July 4th and had hoped to roller skate the Boardwalk in the early AM hours before the crowds arrive.

Submitted by L L, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on May 21, 2015

The rules for rollerblading on the boardwalk are the same a the rules for bikes. Starting on 23 May, through Labor Day. These rules are: bikes and roller blades are permitted on the boardwalk from 2AM to 11AM everyday, and they are prohibited from 11AM to 2AM

No, they cannot. Dogs (except service animals) are not allowed on the boardwalk or the boardwalk tram during this time of year.
