Are you allowed to have blow-up baby pools on the beach? We're looking to bring a very small one.

Absolutely!  It's one of the best things to do to let little ones have fun in the water, without worrying about waves.  And easily filled up with ocean water just using a sand bucket.  Little ones love them.  You might consider an umbrella over it too to protect baby's skin.  Have fun in OC!

Not far.  Wal Mart is located just outside of Ocean City on Rte 50 / Ocean Gateway about 5 miles outside of town.  It will be on the left leaving town, on the right if you're coming into Ocean City.

Hello! I'm trying to help my son plan a surprise wedding proposal and need some help. We'll be vacationing in the middle of August. Are there any local photographers or picturesque spots you would recommend?

Congratulations!

Here are some ideas for spots:

On the beach at Sunrise or Sunset.

On the pier at Northside Park at 125th Street.

At Sunset Park at South Division Street.

At the Isle of Wight area on the south side of Route 90 between the two bridges.

If you want something more unique an whimsical, consider one of the roller coaster at Trimper's or Jolly Rogers or the Haunted House at the south end of the boardwalk.

Along the boardwalk in front of Ocean Gallery at 2nd Street or amongst all the Kite Loft kites at 5th Street are also unique spots.

As far as photographers, I've used Chris Praypa for group family photos a couple of time and we've always found him easy to deal with and been happy with the results. You can reach him by phone at 646.441.0907.

Can you explain the fishing license regulations to me? I don't understand why you need one in certain places and not others.

Here is the deal. A few years ago, when Maryland added the requirement for licenses to fish in its ocean, tidal, and coastal bay waters, the license was required everywhere for people ages 16 and up (see photo above). Ocean City recognized that there were many people who just wanted to casually fish for an hour or two on their vacation, and asked the state to allow for the creation of a few areas where people could fish without a license. These non-license required areas (see photo below) were approved and are at the Northside Park Pier at 125th Street and Chicago Avenue bulkhead at 3rd Street. Yoiu still need to register with the state to fish in these areas, but you can do that by phone by calling 855.855.3906 (7am-7pm daily).

You also do not need a license to fish from the Ocean Pier or Oceanic Pier as they are commercial piers with licenses covering their patrons.

Find out more about how to get the required fishing licenses here.

It will be crowded, but not too bad.  The week of the 4th is the busiest week of the year in Ocean City.  You can always find space on the beach.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with the people who run the fishing event at Sessions by the Sea? Last year, it sold out by Thursday. We have a few people hoping to participate this year and there's no definitive information on how to sign up prior to the event.

I believe you have to be fully registered for Sessions by the Sea in order to take part in the fishing trip.  You can fill out the online registration form here http://laurelrecovery.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Sessions-by-the-Sea-2018.pdf

The other option would be to contact Laurel Recovery at 301-490-8136

Thank you for your question.
