Dogs are not allowed on the OC beach or boardwalk or beach anytime from 1 May to 30 September. Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach and boardwalk from 1 October to 30 April.

Leashed dogs are allowed on other OC Streets and in OC's parks, including Northside Park at 127th Street.

There is a dog park at 94th Street that you can access for a fee. Dogs using that park must have current vaccinations.

Dogs are not allowed on city buses or the boardwalk tram.

Most rental condo properties do not allow renters to have dogs, but do allow owners to have them.

Dogs are not allowed in most pubic areas of Assateague State Park between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. They are allowed in portions of the Assateague National Seashore, but are subject to restrictions. See this site for more info on pets at Assateague Nations Seashore.

I have not used them, but I have heard good things about the Dogtel Hotel in West OC. You can call them at 410.213.8188.

Hello, insiders! Hope everyone is doing well. We're thinking about traveling to OCMD for the day this Saturday, June 30th. With the 4th of July falling on Wednesday, what are y'alls opinions on it being super busy the weekend before? My guess is that it won't be super crowded until Monday, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Hi Charlotte,

Thank you for asking! I think we are all doing pretty well as it is summer and we have a chance to go to OC!

I have no doubts that OC will be very crowded the whole week of the 4th.  It is a big time for family vacations so if you like crowds, it is a great time to go!

Enjoy!

Is there a Laundromat in North OCMD? We're staying near Northside Park and our hotel doesn't offer a laundry facility.

There is a nice laundromat in Fenwick Island.  It is located at 36656 Lighthouse Rd, Selbyville, DE 19975.  It it about 15 minutes from Northside Park.  It is located right across from the Food Lion and next to the Exxon Station.  It is very clean.

What's the weather like in OCMD in the beginning of September? Average temperature?

The weather is hot and sunny usually - highs in the mid to upper 80's and nights in the upper 60s to low 70s.  The temps are kept moderate by typical summer cumulus humilis clouds which produce a low chance of rain, although scattered showers are a possibility.  Occasionally a larger cell of weather will come from the south or west bringing with it cumulus congestus clouds which can produce rain for a day.  The gulf stream typically moves it farthest north in September warming the water to the mid-70s.  Given the high UV index though, the water feels warmer.  The water  also appears clearer and more green then olive in September.  It is my favorite time to be in OC.

Is there a reliable dog daycare (one that comes highly recommended, preferably) near or in Ocean City? We're looking to put our dogs somewhere safe and happy while we're on the beach during the day!

I also recommend contacting Barbara Leister at http://www.rover.com/sit/barbaral2.  She offers day care and walking services.

I have a trip planned for October 22-26. What businesses will be open and what will the weather be like?

It's hard to say what the weather will be, but normally it's cool enough to need a  warm jacket when you're on the boardwalk, and maybe just a sweatshirt when you're away from the beach. You'll still find shops and bars and restaurants open, but no rides or water activities.  The Life Saving Station Museum is open year round and is always worth a visit. And the Art League of Ocean City is also worth visiting on 94th St. bay side.  To check the weather forecast before you come, head to http://www.wmdt.com/weather

Are there a lot of parking options near the Boardwalk? Are there public lots, private lots, or am I responsible for finding street parking? Wondering if it's worth staying in the cheaper bayside area or ocean side to avoid driving to the Boardwalk area.

There is parking all over this area of town, street parking plus both private an municipal lots (see locations here). The Inlet Parking Lot at the south end of town holds 1200 cars. North of 10th Street most street parking is free. Find out more about parking in OC here.

I recommend trying Boardwalk Segways in the Lankford Hotel between 8th and 9th Street on the boardwalk.I know they rent these scooters. Call them at 410.289.1203 to find out more.

You can also check with PMI Rentals at 126th Street (410.250.1251). They rent all kinds of stuff, but I don't know if they have electric scooters. Call them to check.

Handicapped people can no longer park for free for unlimited time in the municipal parking lots or side streets at the south end of town. Where the paid parking system is in place, vehicles with handicap credentials can park for free for 60 minutes. As of the 61st minute they have to pay for the full hour plus any additional parking use.

Note that on most side street north of 10th Street all street parking is free.

The only toll you should encounter is on the eastbound Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Cash toll for passenger cars is $4/ Maryland E-ZPass rate is $2.50. There is no toll for the westbound trip across the bridge. Find out more here.
