Hi! We are coming for a weekend at the end of March. Is there anywhere during that time where can fish and rent rods? Thank you!

I believe all the rental places are closed for the season.  You can fish from the two rental piers, the pier by second street and the pier off Northside Park for free, but you will need your own rod.  Fenwick Tackle is open on Coastal Highway in Fenwick Island.  They also sell rods and reels for $20.

Unfortunately, both tackle shops that used to rent equipment have closed. There are two private piers I recommend. Both of these palaces rent equipment, sell bait, and allow you to fish without a license.

The Oceanic Pier at South 1st Street is right on the west edge of the inlet. They are open almost all the time (24 hr/day). Call them at 410.289.2602 to double check.

Ocean Pier at Wicomico Street on the ocean (shown above, about 5 blocks north of the inlet) is also open most of the time. You can call them at 410.289.6033 to check.

Note that to surf fish or fish in most of OC you need a license to fish in the Atlantic Ocean or Coastal Bays (except for from the Chicago Avenue Bulkhead and Northside Park Pier where no license is required). Find out more about fishing license requirements here.

You can rent them off the pier, or just head over to Walmart on Route 50 and buy a $20 rod/reel combo and donate it at the end of the weekend.

Hi Jeanette,

i think your best option is to go to the Ocean Pier and rent whatever you need along with bait, etc. Here is their site.

Enjoy and i hope you catch a big one!
