Which international airport is closest to Ocean City? What is the best way to get to Ocean City from there?Submitted by Damon H, Horsham Hawaii on January 8, 2019
The nearest major commercial airports to OC are all about 3 hours away. They are Washington Dulles (IAD), Washington National (DCA), Baltimore (BWI), or Philadelphia (PHl). From any of tem you would need to rent a car and drive to OC.
You also can take a connecting flight to Salisbury-Ocean City Regional Airport (SBY) which is about 30 miles from OC. They are only serviced by American Airlines which only has direct flights to Philadelphia and Charlotte, so you can fly from Hawaii to either of these airports and then to OC. Once you get to Salisbury you will need to rent a car, take a taxi, or arrange other transportation to get to OC.
In the unlikely event you have access to a private airplane or charter, you can fly to the Ocean City Airport (OXB) which is General Aviation (no commercial flights) only. It is located about 5 miles outside of Ocean City.
You can fly into Salisbury International Airport as well. It is a smaller airport with limited flights though. It is about an hour from Ocean City. The Bayrunner Shuttle also goes to Ocean City from Salisbury, MD.
Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, DC (Reagan / Dulles) airports are all about 3 hours from Ocean City. You could do a one-way rental from Enterprise Car Rental and drop the car off in Ocean City.
Aloha! As the others mentioned, the closest international airports are all about three hours away. When you are out of the plane though and on the road- stick to Rt. 50 east and it will take you straight to Ocean City!
The closest international airport to Ocean City Md. would probably be BWI. From there, you can ride the Bayrunner Shuttle into Ocean City. Here's the info. https://bayrunnershuttle.com/
