I saw that there is a big gym in Northside Park on 125th St with a basketball court in it. I'm an avid basketball player, and Northside Park is within walking distance from our condo. Can you buy a pass to play, or is it free to go in there?Submitted by Jake S, Dallas Pennsylvania on January 21, 2019
Hey Jake. I also suggest calling Parks and Rec. In my experience the gym is reserved for specific programs. I have not heard of any pick-up games there though. There are pick-up games at Little Salisbury Park on 3rd Street. The players tend to be younger (under 30) and friendly. The park is just a $3 bus ride away.
There is also an outdoor court on 94th street that often has pickup games!
Jake their contact page can be found here for more information.
Yes, there is a large indoor gym at Northside Park at 125th Street. I believe it is free for walk-ins to use the gym, but I am not 100% sure of this. The gym is often used for tournaments and other events, so it is not always available for public use. I suggest calling the Parks Department at 410.250.0125 to check if the space is available, if you can reserve a court, and if there is anything else you need to do to play basketball there while you are in OC.
