Are we allowed to ride our bikes on the beach? I'd like to ride near the shoreline if possible!

Wayne, this is actually a great question. There isn't rules stating you can't ride a peddle bike on the beach but because of the soft sand it's highly impossible to do. You can contact City Hall here for a direct answer.

You can ride on the Boardwalk before 10 am.  During those times you can ride your bike on the beach if you have the right tires and ride in the surf line.  It is a tough ride though.  You can ride in Northside Park and see the bay all year round.

I doubt you could ride bike successfully in OC's soft sand, and I have never seen anyone try to do so. However, if you have a bike with really wide tires, you could give it a try. You can ride along the 2.25-mile boardwalk which is adjacent to the beach and only a few hundred yards form the ocean. At this time of year, you can ride anytime.

You can ride your bicycles on the boardwalk at any time until Memorial Day weekend.  Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, you can only ride them from 2 a.m. until 11 a.m.  (morning).  I have never seen anyone riding a bicycle on the beach simply because it's nearly impossible.  In season, there are too many people on the beach to be allowed as well.  Plus the sand is way too deep away from the water's edge, and too soft along the edge for riding.  And I'm going to assume you mean bicycles and not motorcycles. Motorcycles are definitely not allowed ever.
