Approximately how long is the drive from the Francis Scott Key Resort in West Ocean City to the Convention Center? What do you recommend we check out around the Convention Center area?Submitted by Luann R, Depew New York on January 28, 2019
I will also suggest checking out Endless Summer surf shop across the highway - if you are here during the summer, be sure to try one of their snowballs!
Endless Summer is a nice surf shop across from the Convention Center on 36th. Coconuts beach bar is located at Castle in the Sand hotel but they won't be opening up till May.
Hi. Part of your answer depends on traffic conditions. If it's a car event weekend like May's Cruisin', then it can take 40 or more minutes because of heavy traffic. But normal conditions shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.
Be sure to check out the Visitor Center at the Convention Center. You'll find coupons and info about everything all in one spot.
From the Convention Center you could walk to the beach, walk 5 blocks to the 45th Street Taphouse, or walk to 49th St to the Seacret's Distillery if you're over 21, and then spend some time at Seacrets listening to good music and having some fun. But it would be easier to drive there.
I would allow yourself 30 minutes to get there. The Francis Scott Key is a very nice hotel, although not in Ocean City proper.
One little known gem at the Convention Center is the back patio. Walk out the rear door and you can watch the day roll by over the bay. It is a very pretty sunset too.
Seacrets is definitely worth a visit.
It is about 5 miles from the Francis Scott Key to the Convention Center. At this time of year it is a 10 to 15 minute drive. In season it is probably 20 to 30 minutes. If you get caught with the drawbridge up it will take about an extra 10 minutes. The FSK is a great place, so unless this is too long a drive for you, I'd stay there. If you want to be closer to the Convention Center, the Hampton Inn on 43rd Street is a great option, just 2 blocks from the Convention Center.
