How can I get from NJ to Ocean City, MD without crossing the Bay Bridge?Submitted by Lida K, Toms river NJ on May 14, 2019
You generally would not cross the Bay Bridge when coming from NJ. but there are still other tall (but not as long) bridges you will need to cross. The best way to go is to head down I-295 or the NJT into Delaware (cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge). From I-95 South in Delaware, get off onto Delaware Route 1 South towards Dover (toll road). Continue on DE Route 1 about 50 miles. As you are about to get to Milford, DE, get on US 113 South. Stay on Route 113 South for about 43 miles. About 5 miles after entering Maryland, take MD Route 90 East.
Continue about 7.5 miles on Route 90 East where it will end in Ocean City.
This is an easy drive. Just take 95 to Route 1 South. That will take you through Delaware. This is the shortest route to get to Ocean City from New Jersey. Most GPS/driving apps will offer you this option.
hey lida, you're talking to a fellow Jerseyan so here's how:
Cape May Lewes Ferry is how. take it from the Garden State Parkway south to exit 0 and make a right. stay straight for about a half mile and you will find the ferry terminal. it is recommended you make reservations for the ferry as sometimes they do sell out depending on weather or any cancellations. so be sure to know before you go and visit http://www.cmlf.com for any last minute changes. You'll love the ferry that's the way i go to OC for the past 32 years of my life. there's food, sightseeing while you cross, and it's nice to just relax as you come over to Delaware.
From Toms River you can head west to catch Route 1 (near Wilmington) into Ocean City or head down Rt 9 to the Cape May Ferry. Cross the Delaware Bay and catch Rt 1 after the Ferry.
