Does that artist still do religious sand sculptures on the beach?Submitted by Bill L, Millersburg PA on November 13, 2019
Randy Hoffman continues this tradition at OC to this day. I found the most interesting thing about it is that they use VERY few tools to create these masterpieces!
Look for the sculptures more on the weekends from October to May.
Yes and the work is done by Randy Hofman. Google him for more information.
Yes, he makes these sand sculptures during the main and into the shoulder seasons. He does not generally sculpt between October and May.
The artist is Randy Hofman. He has been doing these sculptures since 1981, and was trained by the person who did it for many years before he took over. You can find the creations on the west edge of the beach, just south of North 2nd Street. He has many other pieces of art around town including at the Library at 100th Street and Art League Gallery at 94th Street.
Randy Hoffman is the genesis for the sand sculptures. He has a team of skilled craftsman who help him sculpt, carve and maintain the sculptures. They work to create sand revelations. The team is more active in the warmer months, but there is always a sculpture on the beach. Once the summer exodus happens, the team maintains the sculptures more on the weekends. The sculptures are right next to the Psalm trees.
