We are planning a visit for Sunday 10/20, we were wondering what boardwalk attractions are available this time of year. Is your ferris wheel and/or other rides available?

Hi Stephanie,

The pier rides closed down at the end of September and will not be open until next spring.  However, Trimpers may have their indoor rides including the carousel and haunted house open on Sunday weather permitting.  Also, be your favorite food places like Candy Kitchen, Fishers Popcorn, Dumsers Dairyland, and Thrashers Fries will be open for business as well as the world famous Ocean Gallery and the Kite Loft.

Outdoor rides will be closed. Trimpers may have some of its indoor kiddie rides open in the afternoon if the weather is nice. Her are a few more ideas of things to do on the boardwalk and around town.

If the weather is nice, many of the Boardwalk shops will be open. Boardwalk favorites  Thrasher's Fries, Dumser's ice cream, Fisher's popcorn (my favorite!), Candy Kitchen are almost always open on the weekends and sometimes on weekdays, especially in October.

Rent a bike and ride down the boardwalk all day long!

Horse and Carriage Rides are available again on the boardwalk this year. Cost is $10/person. Find out more here.

Restaurant Week is 10/13 - 10/27 with lots of great deals at great restaurants all around town. Checkout their website for lots of great information.

OCtoberfest on the Beach is 10/19 - 10/27 and includes  Corn maze and other fall festival activities at North Division Street.

Go to an Arcade - Marty's Playland is open everyday!

Play indoor mini golf at one of the two Old Pro Indoor Courses. They are open everyday.

Play Laser Tag at Planet Maze. They are closed Tuesday-Thursday.

Go Ice Skating or see an ice skating show at the Carousel.

Visit the Art League Art Gallery at 94th Street to see some cool local art (FREE!)

Drive down to Assateague Island and see the ponies - be sure to stop at the Visitor's Center just before crossing the bridge - they have some great exhibits!

If you go to the Visitor's Center at the Convention Center, they usually have a list of what restaurants are open when for the off season and a list of things to do. Most restaurants in large hotels are open year round

I always recommend staying at a place with an indoor pool in the off season, as it provides something to do if the weather is not nice.

Have fun in OC this fall!

Although the rides at the pier are closed, Trimper's will be open, although those rides are designed for younger travelers.  Arcades will be open and businesses will be operating on a shortened schedule; typically with hours from 11 or 12-4 o r5.

Hi Stephanie. Sadly, the boardwalk rides will be closed. Trimper's indoor rides will most likely be open, but these rides are more for the toddler set than for grownups. Marty's Playland Arcade should be open too, along with Thrasher's  and Fisher's Popcorn, and lots of shops and restaurants.  There should still be several mini golf places open and the two indoor mini golf courses on 68th and 136th St.

Have a great day in OC.
